The Cubs are on sale as they traded veteran reliever Chris Martin to the Dodgers on Saturday, NBC Sports Chicago’s Gordon Wittenmaier confirmed.
Martin is the first of a trio of Cubs relievers who are expected to trade before the 5 p.m. deadline on Tuesday, along with David Robertson and setup man Mychal Givens.
The 35-year-old right-handed batsman signed a one-year deal with the Cubs after winning the 2021 World Series with the Cubs in March.
In 34 appearances, he posted 4.31 ERAs and 1.340 WHIPs, including 3.29 ERAs (2.39 FIPs) in 14 appearances (13 2/3 innings) since June 17.
He brings postseason experience to Los Angeles with a 2.19 ERA in 14 career appearances.
