Former Oregon commit picked to win Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award in 2022

Anyone who has seen a relationship end in their life knows the desire to check back on that person and see how they have been doing since the separation.

For Oregon Ducks fans, “the one who got away” could very well be 4-star wide receiver Tetaroa McMillan, the No. 5 ranked WR in the 2022 recruiting class. McMillan was originally committed to the Ducks, but after the departure of Mario Cristobal and the hiring of Dan Lanning, he decided to reverse his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats.

Now Oregon fans can feel the urge to take a look at Tucson and see how McMillan is performing ahead of his new season.

The answer is probably not that will quickly rid you of the metaphorical breakdown.

“Here’s a guy who was committed to Oregon, and it seemed like the longest it was going to be an Oregon-USC race for him. He committed to Oregon, but Arizona never stopped,” Brandon Huffman Said, with 247Sports. “He’s one of the biggest commitments Arizona has ever gotten because he’s an instant impact player.”

Of course, the Ducks have done incredibly well in the wide receiver position when it comes to recruiting since new coaching staff came to Eugene. So far, they have landed 5-star Jurion Dickey (2023), 4-star Kyler Kasper (2022), and 4-star Ashton Cozart (2023) over the past several months. However, it’s always going to be interesting to keep an eye on the wildcats and see how big of an impact McMillan can have in Tucson.

There’s always going to be a portion of Oregon fans who wondered what could have happened if he became the star we think he could do.
