Five-star Leigh Senior High School, Richard Young, who is running back, announced his plans to play at the University of Alabama on Friday night.
“For the next 3 to 4 years, I will be taking my talents and academics to the University of Alabama,” Young said in an Instagram post. “roll Tide!”
The decision ended all speculation surrounding the 5-foot-11 playmaker, who had narrowed down his top three schools to Alabama, Georgia and Oregon.
1 in the class of 2023, Young has been highly sought after by nearly every heavy hitter in college football. They also experienced visits from Nick Saban, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Ohio State’s Ryan Day, Florida’s Billy Napier and Clemson’s Dabo Swinney 24 hours earlier in January.

Young ran for 1,755 yards with a total of 20 touchdowns with the Lightning last season, helping the team reach a 7-3 record and the regional semi-finals.
As he moves into his final high school season, Young may be a little freer with this decision behind him – a scary prospect for the competition.
