Michael Morales beats down Adam Fugitt en route to stoppage

Michael Morales once again improved his finishing percentage on Saturday when he stopped promotional newcomer Adam Fugit with punches at UFC 277.

The stoppage came at 1:09 of Round 3, the final round of their three-round welterweight bout at the prelims at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Despite being only 23 years old, Morales (14-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) already has two finishes in as many UFC appearances. It was played in a similar manner to its previous ones. Morales tagged Fugit (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with a combination that put his opponent down.

Fugit was briefly back on his feet and tried to bring Morales to range. However, Morales went in and out of the pocket and dropped Fugit again. Referee Herb Dean saw quite a bit and proceeded to save Fugit, who was still caught for a leg despite his disorientation.

Morales now has 12 finishes in 14 professional appearances. His second UFC win came by knockout against Travin Giles in January.

Meanwhile, Fugit’s four-fight winning streak was broken. He took the UFC 277 bout on short notice after Ramiz Brahimaz withdrew due to injury.
