Miesha Tate issues statement on bloody UFC on ABC 3 loss, makes no excuses

Misha Tate is taking her defeat ahead of Lauren Murphy at the UFC on ABC 3.

Tate (19-9 MMA, 6-6 UFC), a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, failed her flyweight debut on Saturday when she ended up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision against Murphy (16-5 MMA, 8) . -5 UFC) at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY

It was a difficult period for Tate, who had badly damaged his left eye and nose during round three of Murphy’s punches. The fight was set up entirely for Tate to cut into a new division and secure a title against Valentina Shevchenko from the start, but it didn’t go her way.

However, Tate is not pushing itself on the result. She released a statement hours after the fight, clarifying that she wouldn’t be disappointed by the losing outcome (via Instagram):

Some women pay a lot for such lips! All I had to do was get into a small fight! Tonight wasn’t my night, congrats @laurenmurphymma and we keep learning life lessons! I had the most UH-amazing dinner at my favorite restaurant @cheeseboatbk and met Mama Cheeseboat herself. I am still blessed beyond winning or losing a draw! Thank you to everyone who continues to love and support me regardless, you know who you are

After retiring from the sport in late 2016 and being away for nearly five years, Tate is now 1-2 since resuming his fighting career. He now faced hurdles in the form of Caitlin Vieira and Murphy in the top-five opponents at 135 and 125 pounds, leaving questions about his path to eventual UFC gold.
