Royals pitcher had one of the worst throws to first base fans likely will ever see

All of the Royals could see Ryan O’Hearn.

O’Hearn was playing first base in the Royals’ 4-0 loss to the Angels at Kaufman Stadium on Wednesday, and he needed to be nearly 4 feet tall to catch a truly terrifying throw from relief pitcher Dylan Coleman.

Let’s do the reverse.

The Angels took a 2–0 lead in the seventh inning, but when shortstop Andrew Velázquez stepped up to the plate there was a runner-up in third without an out.

Coleman’s pitch went on to Velázquez, but he swung. The ball traveled all 2 feet and had an exhaust velocity of 48.3 mph. Coleman scrambles off the mound and bounces the ball rolling towards him.

Due to Velázquez’s pace, it seemed a close game at first. But Coleman decided to throw the ball out of hand, and it was a bit off the mark. The ball went over O’Hearn’s head and rolled into right field as Velázquez made his way to third.

It’s fair to say that Coleman would this one behind (Video from Jamboy Media).
