Takk McKinley could be an late addition to Browns

The Cleveland Browns spent most of the offseason improving the offense while bringing back most of the defense from the previous year. Retaining DE Jadevon Clooney and LB Anthony Walker Jr was a top priority, with CB Denzel Ward receiving a long-term extension.

The team spent much of their capital on the defensive side of the ball, drafting CB Martin (MJ) Emerson, DE Alex Wright and DT Perian Winfrey, with three of their first four selections.

The biggest experienced addition on that side of the ball was de Chase Vinovich. Brown traded LB Mack Wilson to the New England Patriots in exchange for the former Michigan star. Vinovich’s role was to replace what DE Tac McKinley had given to the team before the injury.

McKinley played well for Cleveland in his 11 matches. He had 2.5 sacks, eight QB hits, three tackles for damage, and a coercive rumble. His late-season Achilles injury could keep him out of the season, with Cam Akers unlikely to return, but he could help the team through the final stages:

Currently, Cleveland has 88 players signed on to their 90-man roster with rookie DT Perrian Winfrey. Perhaps McKinley fills that last roster spot before training camp so he can start working with the team before his return.
