Barkley Believes the Greatest Threat to the Warriors in the West originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayria
The Warriors will go down in the 2022–23 NBA season as one of the clear championship favorites.
Golden State’s return to the Finals certainly won’t be easy, especially in the Western Conference, where multiple teams will give the Warriors a run for their money.
Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley joins Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area on the latest episode of the current NBA “Dubs Talk” podcast, where he is asked what he believes is the Golden State’s best in the West. Who could be the biggest threat?
“Well, I think the Clippers, they’re going to be considered for the favorites in the West,” Barkley said. “Denver is going to be there, obviously, the Warriors are going to be there. To me, Clippers Man, they’re going to be really dangerous when they get to Kavi [Leonard] And back to Paul George. They made some trades last year that’s really going to help them, but if they can get Kavi and Paul George back, the Clippers are going to be awesome.”
The Clippers, who were the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference with a 42–40 record, were without superstars Kawhi Leonard (torn ACL) and Paul George (UCL injury) for the entire season, limited to just 31 games. this season.

With the Denver Nuggets, Barkley believes these three teams will compete for the top spot in the West. However, they will not be alone as the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the top teams in the conference.
If the Clippers are as much of a threat as Barkley had predicted, the Warriors’ road to repeat as champions is going to be even tougher.
