Why Kerr reminds Barkley of Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly who originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayria

Despite criticism of the Warriors’ jumping methods, the current NBA has nothing but praise for architect, head coach Steve Kerr, on Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley.

Speaking with Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area in early July, Barkley said Kerr has done a “tremendous” job leading the Warriors over the years. Barkley also said that Kerr reminded him of Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly.

,[Kerr] Takes his ego out of the equation and realizes that the players are the most important thing,” Barkley said on the latest episode of Dubs Talk. “Chuck Daly did it and Steve did a great job.”

For Barkley to say that Kerr reminded him of Daly is a compliment in itself. Daly was best known for leading the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons to back-to-back NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. What’s more, Barkley was coached by Daly on the “dream team”, which ran rough in their competition during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

In both of those squads, Daly was surrounded by incredible basketball talent and arrogance and was able to keep those teams focused on one singular goal: winning. In some ways, Kerr is doing just that with this current Warriors dynasty and doing it extremely well, as evidenced by the Warriors winning four championships in eight seasons.

Even though the Warriors are expected to have a more difficult road to replicate, with a healthy Los Angeles Clippers squad expected to be the biggest threat, the Dubs still expect the Dubs to be very competitive.

With Kerr leading the team, Steph Curry continuing his ascension to being one of the greatest defenders of all time, and the continued growth of young players, the Warriors could very well be “for a long time”.
