According to reports, the Dallas Stars are on the verge appointing their next head coach.

Elliotte Friedman, an NHL insider, reported that he believes Peter DeBoer will become the next head coach. After the Vegas Golden Knights fired him last May, DeBoer is now available.

Pierre LeBrun, TSN, noted that it isn't quite a done deal right now: Rick Bowness, who resigned in May, has made the Dallas job vacant

Stars legend DeBoer is one of his many names. DeBoer has coached the Florida Panthers as well as the New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, and Golden Knights. He also has a 513-379-123 record and has played in 123 playoff games.

During the 2019-20 season, he took over in Las Vegas from Gerard Gallant and led the team into the Western Conference Final. It lost to the Stars.

Vegas reached the second round in the playoffs in 2020-21, but was eliminated in the 2021-22 playoffs despite having a solid record of 43-31-8.
